Jan Beyers built this house in the late Victorian style in 1876.
With balconies on all sides and a profusion of decorative iron railings and trimmings, this building must have rated as one of the grandest mansions in Stellenbosch at the time. Later it was used as a hostel for the students of Bloemhof school. Since 1991 it serves as the administrative headquarters of the Stellenbosch Museum.
