Kaffie was born in Lamberts Bay in 1941. She matriculated at Bloemhof High School in Stellenbosch and studied Arts at the Michaelis School of Fine Art in Cape Town.
She worked at LA Art School, Los Angeles, the Art Academy in Leuven and at the Art School Amsterdam.
