Alsoon Wessels was born on 15 July 1930 in Riviersonderend, where he attended school. He obtained a Teacher's Diploma at the
teacher's college in Paarl. Later he continued to study Afrikaans and Dutch at Unisa.
He was a teacher in - among others - Ceres, Uitenhage, Bredasdorp and Cape Town, where he was sports teacher at Jan van Riebeeck. For the seven years before retirement he taught at Eikestad School in Stellenbosch.
His short stories appeared in Huisgenoot, and he wrote a regular column about fishing in the Streeks Burger.
He and his wife now live in Bettys Bay.
