Arie Ewert Scheurkogel was born on 14 November 1923, at Lydenburg, Transvaal.
He matriculated from Lydenburg High School and studied at Stellenbosch
University (B Com 1947, M Com, cum laude and D Com 1966).
1944: First researcher at the Buro van Ekonomiese Ondersoek. He then worked for the Reserve Bank, at the Cukkinan Refractories (a
mine in Tanganyika) and the CSIR. He was professor of Business Economics at the
University of the Orange Free State and from 1970 professor of Business
Economics at Stellenbosch University. He retired in 1989 and lives now at
Heritage Manor, Somerset West. He is married to Johanna, née Pienaar and they have
five children: Erica, Arie Conrad, René, Tanya and Riaan Waldemar.
