Emile Joubert was born on 27 August 1963 in Cape Town. He grew up in Bellville,
London, Cape Town and Stellenbosch. After matric from Paul Roos Gymnasium in
1980 Emile joined the Army (1981-1982). In 1983 he packed his rucksack and
travelled through Europe.
He studied Stellenbosch University from 1984 and obtained a BA hons
in Journalistic in 1987.
He started as a sports writer at Die Burger for two months, before he left again, this time travelling through America.
Following his return to South Africa in 1989 he rejoined Die Burger, first as a journalist and later as Arts editor. In 1995 he left journalism to
manage his own company which he founded together with a partner.
Currently he works as a public relations consultant specialising in the wine
industry. He is a columnist for Die Burger and Volksblad and writes a wine column for the Afrikaans magazine Insig and travel articles for Wegbreek.
Emile lieves in Cape Town and works in Stellenbosch.
