Wilna Adriaanse was born on 19th March 1958 and grew up in Worcester. She matriculated from Worcester High in 1976 and studied at Stellenbosch University (BA and BA hons in Sociology
and Development Administration). In 2011, Wilna obtained a MA for Creative Writing under the tuition of Etienne van Heersen at UCT.
Wilna was married to Deon Adriaanse in 1981. They lived in Giyani for three and
a half years, both serving in the General Commissioner's offices and returned to
the Cape in 1985. In order to raise her three young sons, Cobus, Jaco and
Johann, Wilna stopped work but continued her studies at Unisa.
Wilna wrote her first book (published in 2000), when her oldest left for Paul
Roos Gymnasium in Stellenbosch.
She enjoys reading, music and travels. The family has been living in Durbanville since 1987.Vier Seisoene Kind was awarded an 'ATKV-Woordveertjie' 2011 for best romance novels.
