Huntsman spiders (Sparassidae)
These eight-eyed spiders are known as rain spiders in southern Africa. Their legs extend forward in a crab-like fashion ( rather than being jointed vertically to the body). Not deadly to humans and only bite when provoked.
The Banded Huntsman (Holconia) is larger and grey to brown with striped bands on its legs.
